Wind Speed and Water Temperature for Paddlers
Monica Devlin Comments
For avid kayakers, wind speed and water temperature are crucial environmental measurements that will affect his/her paddle experience. Many courses even have specified allowable wind conditions that will determine if a group can get out on the water.

In addition to the safety aspect, many paddle guides and instructors enjoy being able to answer clients and students’ questions about environmental conditions.
Larry Ausley, from Triagle Kayak, is looking forward to using his Kestrel 2000 to "help students and mentored instructor candidates calibrate and refine their 'eye' for both wind speed (and relating such to Beaufort wind force) and water temperature out on the water."
