Your question got cut off so I cannot fully see everything you wrote. You should not pair the Kestrel to the phone itself, this is unnecessary and can cause issues. Also make sure you do not have Privacy Pin enabled. Go to Main Menu->Bluetooth and press the center button. Make Sure Conct is set to PC/Mobile and Privacy Pin is OFF. Hope this helps.
