Kestrel Heat Stress Trackers Keep Special Olympic Athletes Safe

Last month, the Kestrel Heat Stress Trackers were used during the 2015 World Games in Los Angeles to ensure the health and safety of the more than 6,500 international athletes competing under the hot mid-summer sun. Recognizing the importance of on-site conditions monitoring for athletes, the event organizers deployed five Kestrel Heat Stress Trackers mounted on tripods to track wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) and help prevent exertional heat stress injuries with actionable data. This year’s Games featured competitions in aquatics, gymnastics, track and field, basketball, soccer and many other summer sports.

Kestrel team members Katie Godfrey, Senior Global Account Executive, and Madeline Delaney Product Manager, trained several dog wardens of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement on features and operation of the Kestrel DROP D2 Temperature & Humidity Data Logger. The PA Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement is responsible for ensuring the welfare of breeding dogs and puppies in commercial breeding kennels. Also, the bureau regulates activities pertaining to dogs that are classified as dangerous, and oversees annual licensure and rabies vaccinations for dogs.

"Kestrelbot" Wins First Lego League Global Challenge

This new order created nine temporary manufacturing positions on our production floor. Weathernews is a Japan-based company founded in 1986.
